Every pick on this page is one I validated personally — same checks, same cross-checking, whether it's for you or for my own family's holiday.
Why no last name? Because I'm still inside the industry — like a restaurant inspector, I work better unannounced. I go public in September 2026. Until then, my method is public even when I'm not: read how I pick →
I'm James. I spent 12 years inside travel search, and this page runs the exact checklist I use for my own family's trips.
Every pick had to pass the same checks before it could appear: trusted for families — judged from what reviewers with kids actually say about that specific property, never the brand name on the door; top review tier only — if families rate it below exceptional, I stop reading; within your budget — the budget is yours, not mine; baby-ready when you're travelling with one — cribs confirmed in reviews, not brochures; and no painful connections — short-haul means direct, long-haul means comfort comes first.
My floor is a 9.0 review score. One exception: I've stayed there myself. Every pick shows which is which: ★ I stayed with my kids · ☆ I stayed before I had kids, and today's family reviews confirm it · ✓ validated by my checks alone — I haven't stayed, so every receipt is shown.
Passing the checks isn't enough. Nothing ranks top until I've cross-checked it against independent reviews and editorial — anything still waiting on that check is flagged on its card. And plenty gets rejected on the way: recent construction-noise mentions, review pages that skew adults-and-nightlife, 90-minute airport transfers, ratings that are quietly trending down.
What's left is ranked by one thing: the best quality for the price — never the cheapest for its own sake. That's the whole method. You can check my work on every card.
These links earn me nothing today. At launch, some may become affiliate links — rankings will never change either way, and I'll say so when it happens.
I cover what one person can honestly validate — right now that's beach and long-haul. More lanes when I've actually checked them.
A couple of picks a month, when they're genuinely worth it. Picks are never sponsored.
